Last Monday, for two hours in the cinema, I became Kraven. It’s my way of understanding the films I watch, and I do the same with books.
As a kid, I often read about Kraven the Hunter in comic books, especially in Spider-Man. He was always presented as a villain in his classic lion attire.
But as I sat in the theater, I saw that the Marvel film presented here was a different side of Kraven, one that I had never considered before.
You only understand when you step into someone's shoes, and I understood for this short time.
What I watched was not the definition of a supervillain.
Supervillains, like Hitler in real life, always have sinister plans, such as world domination.
They are usually sociopaths, loose cannons, and immune to empathy.
In Marvel comics, there are many, such as Dr Doom, who will be the next enemy of the Avengers in the new movie.
In DC, we all know the Joker.
What I watched yesterday was more like the definition of a super vigilante: someone who does the wrong thing for the right purposes. A real antihero.
In our times, it is refreshing when someone takes such action. Our world is fucked up there is no nice way to put it.
“The Antihero provokes opposing views.”
There will always be a dichotomy between those who see him as a villain and those who see him as a hero.
The wrong things he does involve hunting down and eliminating corrupt guys who do terrible things.
In a way, Kraven makes a service by getting rid of them.
Kraven And the Punisher stand together in the same category.
Kraven and Punisher stand in the same category of superheroes. They are both antiheroes using violence as a means to an end.
My take on violence
I do not condone killing because I believe it opens more wounds than the ones that already exist.
While I do not condone killing, I can understand the purpose behind Kraven's actions. I felt like I was in his shoes for those two hours in the cinema.
Justice can indeed be blind. Lawyers can get paid. In a corrupted court, innocent people can be found guilty, and guilty people can be found innocent. It happens.
You know it, and I know it.
Kraven will hunt and kill those who have abused the law.
One of Kraven's significant assets is his communication with nature.
His super ability comes from this connection with the wild animal world. This relationship is very spiritual. It goes very much into his heart.
WATCH IT
The film is a thrilling ride from start to finish, packed with nonstop action to keep you on the edge of your seat. There is no need for deep philosophies here; it is just pure adrenaline-pumping entertainment.
I do not want to disclose too much information so you can enjoy the film.
Overall, I enjoyed the film. Its action is sharp and doesn't disappoint. As a superhero fan, I would give it a nine and keep a 10 for my super favorite ones.
Why or Wow?
The film delivers, and that is key to me. I didn't leave the cinema asking why.
I was more of a "Wow," and a large part of that is thanks to the good choice of starring role: Aaron Perry Taylor really takes it to the next level.
His portrayal of Kraven is so realistic and intense. His character is a true beast with a surprising amount of humanity that shines through.
My recommendation: Do I still need to spell it to you again?
GO AND WATCH IT.
I also linger between ethical dilemmas like this but I somehow support the anti hero. Maybe, it's a part of my nature. I wonder
